Comedy is a love and passion for Sam, and he uses comedy to both entertain and educate. His new Comedy Special, “NeuroSpicy: Love, Life, & Comedy on the Spectrum,” follows his journey navigating the “normie” world as someone on the Spectrum. This comedy special is for those on the Spectrum, the ‘normies’ who love them, and the “NeuroSpicy curious”.
Sam has loved Stand-Up since he was 8 years old from watching and memorizing comedians on TV. He first performed in 2005 for 500+ in grad school, much to the laughter of his classmates (and to the chagrin of his professors). He’s performed in Colorado since 2019, including the mainstage of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Boulder Comedy Festival. He’s also been featured at the Boulder Dairy Arts Center, headlined at other venues in Boulder, performed in Texas, and internationally in New Zealand.
Sam’s comedy style is clean, witty, and observational, inspired by comedians like Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan. He also includes fun impersonations, including his personal favorite…David Attenborough. His comedy is hilarious, intelligent, poignant, and insightful. You can watch highlights from his prior shows on his YouTube playlist here: bit.ly/samuelcomedyclips.

During daylight hours, Sam is a functional medicine practitioner, focusing on supporting entrepreneurs, parents, and adults on the spectrum through lifestyle analysis, functional labs, and functional genetics (www.DrSamShay.com). He also includes humor in consults with his clients (as laughter is the best medicine, second only to a good diet and pooping daily).
