Goldtooth Collective presents: Vampire Squids from Hell / Plastic Rakes / Deva Yoder Band

October 14, 2023 @ 9:00 pm MDT

Vampire Squids From Hell is an instrumental doom-surf band from Denver, CO. This female-fronted four-piece is serving Proletariat serf-rock, for the squid people, by the squid people. The Plastic Rakes are a Prog Punk trio from Denver Colorado that sound like a mutant blend of the Fugs, Minutemen, and Frank Zappa. Descended from the venerable Mourning Sickness, The Rakes’ Denver punk roots go back to the mid 90’s. If you like odd time signatures, space rock guitar solos, and musical satire you need to see the Plastic Rakes live!

Acting as a One-Woman-Record-Label, independent artist and DIY musician/producer Deva (Day-vah) Yoder, is a singer-songwriter based in Denver, CO. Her acoustic guitar holds down the Throwback-Rock/Folk/Americana reminiscent of Aimee Mann, Shawn Colvin, and Sam Phillips, with the lyrical depth of inspiration from authors like Rilke and Gibran. Her tight rhythm section, the unpredictable electric guitar melodies from her guitarist, accompanied by soaring harmonies from her keyboardist, the droning cello, and Yoder’s distinctive voice all blend together to create a unique sound. Sometimes a little alt-country or 60’s psychedelic, Deva’s lyrics are raw and poetic; her voice is strong and entrancing, accompanied by her glittering acoustic riffs.
