On Wednesday, May 15th, the Boulder Jewish Community will gather for a Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) concert at the historic Boulder Theater.
This special performance will feature acclaimed Israeli singer-songwriter Achinoam Nini, “Noa.” She will be joined by Gil Dor and Special Guest Grammy-winning pianist Ruslan Sirota.
Achinoam Nini, known simply as Noa, has been celebrating Israel in song for three decades. Her unique fusion of 1960s folk sounds with her Yemenite roots and the jazz beats of her musical partner, Gil Dor, reflects the essence of multicultural Israel. With roots and upbringing spanning Yemen, Israel, and the United States, Noa is a singer, songwriter, poet, composer, percussionist, speaker, activitst, and mother of three children.
Gil Dor has been creating, studying, and teaching guitar since 1963. In 1990, Gil started an artistic collaboration, accompanying, arranging, producing, and co-writing with Noa. Their partnership has been performing, creating, and touring internationally for the last three decades.
Ruslan Sirota is a grammy-winning jazz pianist who has been touring, performing and recording with major artists for decades (in addition to Clarke), such as Black Eyed Peas, Kamasi Washington, Seal, Josh Groban, Ne-Yo, Thundercat, Chick Corea, George Duke, Marcus Miller, Al Jarreau, Victor Wooten, Eric Benét, Rachelle Ferrell, Larry Carlton, Los Angeles Philharmonic and countless others.
