Bonny Light Horseman

August 9 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm MDT

Bonny Light Horseman is a band that blends acoustic folk-rock and Americana with centuries-old ballads and Scottish folk songs. The band’s music often focuses on universal themes like love, desire, and the passage of time, and some say it’s made for drinking tea by a cozy fire. Here are some reasons why you might want to see Bonny Light Horseman:
The band members
Bonny Light Horseman is made up of three lifelong indie-folk musicians: Eric D. Johnson of Fruit Bats, songwriter Anais Mitchell, and producer/session player Josh Kaufman.
The music
Bonny Light Horseman’s music is a mix of old and new, with gorgeous harmonies and sonic switchups that bring their bluegrass influences to the forefront.
The inspiration
The band’s creative process is often inspired by the energy of a century-old Irish pub in Ballydehob, West Cork, where they’ve convened to record. The pub’s upright piano, which the band lubricated with olive oil to quiet its creaking, became a sort of spiritual fulcrum for the album’s motifs.
