KGNU's 2020 Summer Fund Drive

"Building Community Through Radio"

KGNU Radio's Summer Fund Drive begins on Wednesday July 8, with an invitation to show your support for community radio!

In the age of ultra-information, community radio remains a powerful way for people to connect, learn, and discuss issues important to their lives. KGNU has provided informative and entertaining programming to listeners on Colorado's Front Range for more than 42 years - programming that digs deep into social and political issues showcases independent voices and celebrates our community's unique culture.

Our goal to raise critical operating funds that will allow us to continue to bring you community radio - radio created and cultivated by your community. Whether you're a news junkie, analysis geek, or world music devotee, you can discover the power of community radio by tuning in and making a donation.

"During these challenging times, the independent voice of community radio speaks 'truth to power' and offers personal engagement too often missing in our fast-paced world," said KGNU manager Tim Russo. "Approximately seventy percent of our general operating revenue is provided by generous listeners who embrace the power of grassroots radio."

In 2019, KGNU embarked on a capital campaign to raise $1.25M, with an equal amount to be matched by the City of Boulder. The matching grant is part of Boulders 2017 Community, Culture, and Safety Tax Initiative and will allow KGNU to expand and upgrade its Boulder studios to create a regional community media center that will serve an even broader demographic.

At KGNU, a small staff working with more than 300 volunteers produce, host, report, DJ, administer and govern the station, broadcasting 18-20 hours of locally produced programming each day. Keep our mission alive for another 40 years by donating today!

KGNU Commitment to Community

Vision: The Boulder Community Broadcast Association, Inc. dba KGNU Community Radio envisions an actively engaged global community rooted in mutual respect, working together to advance a more equitable, just, and environmentally sustainable society that ensures all peoples access to and participation in independent media.

Mission: KGNU seeks to stimulate, educate, and entertain our audience, to reflect the diversity of the local and world community and to provide a channel for individuals, groups, issues, and music that have been overlooked, suppressed, or underrepresented by other media.

As such, KGNU reaffirms our commitment to foster inclusive equitable practices, communities, and governance first and foremost inside our organization, and by proactively working toward building an inclusive and socially equitable local media landscape by challenging all forms of discrimination. We believe by working together and embracing our differences, we forge stronger, more resilient, and inclusive communities.
