At KGNU's program committee meeting on May 6th, we discussed a proposed new music program, The Opera Box, created and curated by KGNUs own Chris Mohr and Ron Nadel. You can listen to a sample program along with reading a program description. We also discussed different options for how we may be able add this to our lineup. We wanted to provide you the opportunity to provide your thoughts.
We are considering adding The Opera Box to our Monday lineup to complement A Classic Monday and The Present Edge. The main proposal would be to have The Opera Box from 7 to 8 pm, followed by A Classic Monday (8 to 10 pm) and The Present Edge (10 to midnight) at their current times. We also considered having A Classic Monday from 7 to 9 pm, followed by The Opera Box from 9 to 10 pm, followed by The Present Edge at its current time. It was also suggested that we make The Opera Box part of A Classic Monday on a monthly basis.
In order to add The Opera Box to our Monday lineup with its own designated hour on a weekly basis, we would need to find a new spot for Kabaret, which currently broadcasts from 7 to 8 pm on Mondays. The main proposal would have Kabaret shift to Tuesdays at 7 PM and shift Corriente's start time to 8 pm from its current 7 pm start. We would also reduce The Heavy Set from 3 hours to 2 hours, going to 10 pm to midnight, to gain the hour for Kabaret. We also have considered leaving Corriente at its current time (7 to 9 pm) and having Kabaret from 9 to 10 pm, between Corriente and The Heavy Set.
We had a thorough discussion at our program committee meeting regarding these possible changes. We have also gotten input from many of the different programmers who may be impacted by these possible changes and have worked to take their thoughts into consideration.
If you have any thoughts regarding the Opera Box or the possible schedule changes, please send them to Station Manager, David Wilson, by Sunday, June 1st. His email address is email@example.com.
