The KGNU Hallway Gallery

The work of Kay Tuttle will be on display December 2007-mid January 2008

The KGNU hallway gallery is a new component of KGNUs connection with the Front Range community. Artists from the Front Range will now have an opportunity to display a small selection of their artwork in the main hallway. The shows will last for six weeks and if works sell, partial proceeds will go to KGNU.

Kay Tuttle (Kaytuttle.com) was born and raised in Colorado. She received a BFA in painting and drawing from CSU and went on to get her MFA from ASU in Tempe, Arizona. After graduating she taught painting and drawing at ASU. She lived abroad for several years, in both Munich, Germany and Toulouse, France. She has had solo shows in Germany, France, Arizona, and Colorado. She now lives in Denver, Colorado. She shows with Sliding Door Gallery (Slidingdoorgallery.com) in Denver. Her next show will be in July at Ironton Gallery in Denver.

The art displayed here at KGNU is a small sample of her art, drawn from several different series of work.

The drawings of purses are based on a collection of her grandmothers purses that her mother gave her. She chose purses to work with as they are personal objects closely associated with their owner, and have an interior capable of hiding things.

Animal drawings reflect a love of nature and a wish to preserve it.

The paintings on wood are based on pop culture and speak to the transitive nature of memories and possessions.

The Dad/Daughter drawing is from a series of collaborations with her father, an avid drawer who helped inspire her love of art
