KGNU is celebrating 8 years in Denver on 1390am with a live Blues Legacy broadcast and TV simulcast with Denver Open Media. Tune in, or stop by, for the fantastic Ricky Earl Band, featuring Cherise, who should be familiar to regular listeners.The Ricky Earl Band will perform from 8 to 9pm, with KGNU volunteers assisting Denver Open Media's broadcast. Meanwhile Zion SoulJahz Sound System will be jamming live dub in the parking lot from 5 to 10pm. Its all happening at KGNU's Denver Studio, 700 Kalamath Street, just off 6th Ave and Santa Fe. Its the First Friday on Santa Fe, so there will be many cool galleries and other spaces to wander before and after.

KGNU presents a new musical by Marty Durlin about the anarchist Emma Goldman, the feminist who drew crowds 25,000 and more who were entertained and challenged by her quick wit and audacity. The play focuses on Goldman's 50th birthday, June 27, 1919, spent in jail. "Beautiful Radiant Things" was written by former KGNU station manager Marty Durlin, now residing in Paonia. Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain time. Admission is $15 day of performance.Although Brown Paper Tickets Pre-Sale has ended. We are NOT sold out. There will be plenty of tickets available at door time, which is 2:30 pm.

KGNU is upgrading our 88.5 FM transmitter to a state-of-the-art digital transmitter, which will necessitate taking that signal and the 93.7 FM translator signal in Nederland off the air. Ann Wright served 29 years in the US Army and US Army Reserves, retiring as a colonel. She was a US diplomat for 16 years and served in Nicaragua, Somalia, Afghanistan and more. She was one of only 3 US Department of State officials to resign in opposition to the war in Iraq. Since then, Wright has become a prominent figure in the movement opposed to the occupation of Iraq, giving lectures on her political views and her experiences.
