Arts Calendar:
About the Arts Calendar
- It is a listing of local art events (not art sales, not concerts)
- It is read on Fridays, during Metro Arts, around 12:45 PM
- We read little more than the event, the location and the time
- Notices submitted to our on-line Arts Calendar may be considered for the Arts Calendar
Submitting to the Arts Calendar
Please follow these guidelines:
- Include the most pertinent information: Who, What, When, Where
- Use a single complete sentence, or at most 2 sentences.
- Make no editorial comments: don't make it sound like KGNU is taking a position
- If appropriate, add phonetic pronunciation, particularly with names
- No prices (unless it is a benefit for KGNU). "Free" is OK
- Don't use ALL CAPS
- Acceptable events are ones during which art is created, performed or shown (not for sale):
- stage plays, dances, open mike, installations, poetry readings/slams, film showings, museums art shows...
- Unacceptable events are ones whose primary intent is to sell art:
- art sales, gallery openings...
- We asks you to submit your concerts instead to the Concert Calendar
- We asks you to submit your not-for profit, non-musical, non-arts events instead to the Events Calendar, including art sales
- KGNU does not provide a way to publicize commercial, non-artistic events.
- The total length should be such that it can be read in 15 seconds or less
- Submit a minimum 2 weeks in advance
- Submission doesn't ensure inclusion in the calendar
