In collaboration with other community groups, mental health professionals are coming together to advise Boulder County public health on issues of mental health in our community. many are concerned about Colorado’s high suicide rate for example. Metro Organization for People (MOP) brings churches, schools, youth and neighborhoods together to address many issues. Boulder Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is hosting an open discussion tonight that will outline some of the issues the new county task force will take on in a five month process.

Boulder Food Rescue
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011They are an all-volunteer nonprofit based in Boulder that uses logistical organization and transportation to redistribute perishable food “waste” from businesses to charities and agencies that serve Boulder individuals in need. Boulder Food Rescue uses direct just-in-time delivery to rescue and redistribute fresh and healthy food that would be discarded otherwise. More than 80 percent of their food transportation uses human-powered means (bicycles and trailers). Host Lucas Poglaze converses with Nora LaChassee.

They provide a welcoming environment to all and treat each other with dignity and respect. They provide meals to those in need 365 days a year, run a day care, clothing bank and warming center when it is cold outside. They also help people who are at risk for becoming homeless. It combines rigorous physical training, counseling, behavior modification, and team-building with an immediately transferable and applicable skill: cycling.
