RMBO is headquartered at Barr Lake just east of Brighton, approximately fifteen miles northeast of Denver. Barr Lake State Park is a nationally important stopover point for birds migrating along North America’s Central Flyway and a favorite spot for birders locally and throughout the region. The Park’s importance to birds makes it an ideal location for a bird observatory’s offices.

Our community-based programs offer teens street outreach, day drop-in services, shelter and residential care. These services provide teens psychosocial development through positive behavioral change. Their goal is to help our at-risk residents become healthy, productive members of our community. Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation
Thursday, August 18th, 2011Sensory Processing Disorder is a complex disorder of the brain that affects the way information from the senses (sight, sound, taste, smell, touch, and movement) is experienced and turned into behavior. A person with SPD misinterprets sensory information and may over-react or under-react to it. He/she may cover his/her ears when hearing a siren or be unable to distinguish his teacher’s words from background noises. Other symptoms may include motor clumsiness, behavior problems, anxiety, depression, or school difficulties. Wednesday, August 17th, 2011Elephant Energy distributes appropriate sustainable energy technologies in Namibia and on the Navajo Nation. Doug Vilsack chats with host Nikki Kayser about the similar challenges to rural development, and a few good technologies to help. While 70% of Namibia’s urban population has access to electricity, only 15% of rural households are connected. Rural Namibians must either find alternatives to grid-based power or continue to live without electricity for the foreseeable future. Efficient cookstoves reduce emissions and decrease the amount of wood needed to cook a meal; solar-powered lights increase the amount of time available in a day for activities like reading and craft-making; crank radios allow access to information; and solar-charges allow the chance to charge cell phones and maintain contact with family members.
