Tuesday, June 21st, 2011Bullying is something Dr. Jackie Human, author of 15 Ways to Stop a Bully, happens to know a lot about, from firsthand experience in both her personal and professional lives. From being bullied in the workplace to supporting her daughter when she was bullied in school to having spent five years volunteering for an organization that sent Jackie into many different environments all around Long Island to present programs to thousands of students and adults on various forms of bullying, Dr. Human has seen and addressed bullying from a variety of perspectives. Dr. Jackie Human has learned from her life experience that stopping bullying is much easier than we think, but only if we are willing to embrace the words of Eleanor Roosevelt: “Our dignity can never be taken away from us, it can only be surrendered.” Host Nikki Kayser gets the details.

Monday, June 20th, 2011John Love, director of Greenworks Video, chats with host Nikki Kayser about their year-long contest to help non-profit organizations in Colorado. Each month three organizations will compete on FACEBOOK for popularity. The winner receives video production work to improve their website to reach more people. Many of the competing non-profits have been on the Dot Org show.

Friday, June 17th, 2011Photo pals are forming between students in Boulder and their counterparts in a Shan refugee community in Thailand. Students there and here post photographs of their lives onto the Voice Threads website to share and learn about lives that differ from their own. Boulder County’s Sesquicentennial Art and Essay Contest
Thursday, June 16th, 2011As one of the 17 original counties created by the Colorado Territory in 1861, Boulder County is celebrating its sesquicentennial in 2011. To help commemorate the 150th anniversary, the county is recruiting students to submit essays and artwork for a pair of contests. All Boulder County students in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to submit a piece of artwork on a poster board no larger than 11 inches wide by 12 inches tall. The work should be a current depiction of Boulder County and what the county means to the artist. All Boulder County students in middle school and high school are invited to submit an essay about what is was like to live in Boulder County 150 years ago. Host Nikki Kayser chats with Carrie Haverfield about the goals of the sesquicentennial celebration.
Denver Botanic Gardens
