Wednesday, November 24th, 2010Since 1996, Nalandabodhi Boulder has been offering opportunities for students to study and practice Buddhism. Having grown from a small group to a center at 100 Canyon in Boulder, whose members meet weekly to practice meditation and discuss dharma, They offer community practice opportunities, guidance to those wishing to explore Buddhism and periodically host visiting teachers. Nalandabodhi Boulder is part of an international organization that continues the lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. As such, they study and explore the teachings of The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche and masters of the Kagya and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Veterinary care, premium diet and human interaction are lovingly provided. Cat Care Society operates a limited admission cage-free shelter for homeless and abused cats while providing community outreach programs to enrich the lives of people and cats. About 3 million Americans each year find out that they have a disease for the rest of their lives. The increase indicates environmental causes. Unlike type 2 diabetes that can be controlled with diet, Type 1 is very serious. Early signs are extreme thirst and urination. James Buckles of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation chats with host Nikki Kayser about the treatment methods they are exploring.
