Thorne Ecological Institute

Dot Org Show

Founder of the Thorne Ecological Institute, Dr. Oakleigh Thorne, chats with host Nikki Kayser about turning kids onto the environment for fifty-six years. Sombrero Marsh field trips teach students about wetland ecology, animal and plant adaptations, seed dispersal, and water pollution. All activities are hands-on and take place at a beautiful rare salt marsh. Students of  Boulder Valley School District learn to use binoculars and identify birds, bird calls, and animal tracks. To schedule a field trip, contact the Sombrero Marsh Director at 303 499-3647.
