The Camp Invention program instills vital 21st century life skills such as problem-solving and teamwork through hands-on fun! It is a week long summer enrichment day experience for children entering in grades one through six that is free to schools and organizations nationwide. The top priority of the Camp Invention program is to provide quality enrichment programming in the fields of science, mathematics, history, and the arts. Local schools host the program and the week’s hands-on activities are led by local teachers to ensure a safe learning environment. Wednesday, June 9th, 2010Boulder County Aging Services holds a symposium for care-givers and the interested public. Thousands of persons in Boulder County provide part-time or full-time assistance for an older loved one: a family member, partner, friend, or neighbor. These “family caregivers” help with tasks such as transportation, bill paying, shopping, meal preparation, emotional support, and/or hands-on care. The “care recipients” may live in their own homes, in the caregiver’s home, in a long-term care facility, or at a distance. Whatever the situation, family caregivers give a lot- and they deserve recognition and support in return. Emily Cooper explains to host Nikki Kayser.

Mountain Region Black Economic Summit
Friday, June 4th, 2010This year the Black Economic Summit will include youth. Youth grades 9 through 12 are invited to participate in the Youth Apprentice Contest at the 5th Annual Economic Summit & Expo. Be a part of a selected team (of maximum 10 people) or sign up as a individual and you will be placed with a team. Your challenge: How to significantly reduce the high school drop out rate in Colorado. Each group will be assigned an adult coach and video and computer resources to make proposal to address this very real problem. Teams will be judged by Dr. Randal Pinkett, season four winner of NBC’s “The Apprentice” with Donald Trump as well as a panel of government officials and business leaders. Automezzi
Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010The Automezzi began twenty years ago as a small show to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Now the show has a participant following. The Automezzi is strictly non-profit, and all the monies will go to the Cat Care Society, a local shelter, and to the Youth Restoration Program. They focus on raising funds for local, grassroots charities that are in our neighborhood. Tish Gantz chats with KGNU’s Hope Barrone-Falk about their work.
