Tuesday, March 30th, 2010Greenwood’s mission is to rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned wildlife for release into appropriate habitats. Greenwood also strives to educate the public, emphasizing humane solutions to human/wildlife interactions. Lindsey Goodwick, Volunteer/Education Manager is holding a baby shower to collect supplies for all the incoming spring babies that are on the way. They can always use volunteers as well. Nano Days
Monday, March 29th, 2010The WOW World of Wonder Childrens’ Museum in Lafayette has the largest exhibit to teach informally, experientially about some of the tiniest particles around. Nikki Delany is exhibit and program director. She is pouring water on two different parts of miniature pants to show their surface properties. She has got leaves that don’t get wet, sticky gecko feet and so much more.

Executive Director, Cindy Gallegos chats with host Nikki Kayser about a few of the 1,500 families Focus Points gets to know each year. They has a special program for children birth to 2, another for 3 to 5 year olds. There’s Love And Logic, health fairs, ESL for adults, nutrition and classes for adults to become good readers.

She fills in host Nikki Kayser about the kinds of work 14 to 17 year olds will be doing this summer, the money they will make and the friends they may keep. New programs this year include sustainability projects such as public bicycles, a new trail in Betasso Open Space up Boulder Creek, protecting water quality and more.
Womens Wilderness Institute
Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010The Womens Wilderness Institute takes girls and women into the wild to stengthen their courage, confidence and leadership skills. Their programs take into account how females meet challenges. Whether it is rock climbing, back-packing, mountain biking, fly fishing with Spanish-speakers, teens, mothers/daughter or peers, the programs know how women approach the wilderness. Executive Director Beth Davis and participant Emma Hutchinson explain to host Nikki Kayser the transformation that happens in the wild.
