Prestige Plus partners with the City of Longmont to be Longmont United Hospitals’ senior wellness membership program operating out of the Senior Center. They provide resources and services to help older people take responsibility for their health and wellness of the whole being. This includes massage, fitness, psychological workshops and so much more. Leslie Zetterstrom is the director and she chats with host Nikki Kayser about her sources of information. Most people are located within six months and only four percent are never found.

Thursday, February 18th, 2010Dsenyo is creating jobs for women artisans in Malawi with an environmental mission by using natural fibers such as hemp and organic cotton where possible. Marissa Perry Saints is founder and designer. She tells how she wanted to make a difference for women and youth with a project that does not foster dependence. She describes the community center, AIDS center and women’s soccer team she helps support.
Victim Advocates
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010The Victim Assistance Program helps victims of crime and survivors of sudden or violent death regain their physical, emotional, social, and economic well being by means of intervention and advocacy. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for victim advocates. Their next training is in April. Angelo Torrez describes the training and explains why he has become an advocate.
Clean Energy Pioneers
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010The new site, including an interactive map, is a collaboration between Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, Environmental Defense Fund and Western Resource Advocates to publicize the training and job opportunities for green building and technologies throughout the West. Thirteen colleges will offer the Green Advantage training and certification. Pamuel Campos, attorney with Environmental Denfense Fund explains to host Nikki Kayser how rural folks can also take advantage of a green economy.
Boulder Institute for Psychology and Research
Monday, February 15th, 2010Executive Director, Cynthia Divino tells host Nikki Kayser that we now know the human brain has the capacity to chance, particularly in young children. This can be good news for people suffering from some forms of mental illness. Boulder Institute for Psychology and Research hosts professional training seminars and free public lectures, as well as providing mental health services on a sliding scale. The Boulder Therapeutic Preschool works with two and a half to six year old emotionally disturbed children who can not function in other preschools.

That is why they are putting AED units in as many Colorado schools as they can afford.
