Mediation Services

Longmont Community and Neighbor Resources Division provides mediation services as a way to resolve conflicts in the city. John Clarke lists the issues with host Nikki Kayser that they help tackle- housing eviction, pets, noise, property maintenance, fences, boundary disputes, parking, trees and so much more. Volunteer mediators help the City of Longmont provide mediation sessions in English and Spanish.

Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement

Executive Director, Bray Patrick-Lake chats with host Nikki Kayser about after-hours street outreach for people sleeping on the streets of Longmont. H.O.P.E. made 613 transports to local emergency shelters and detox facilities in 2008. They supplied 9,200 meals, 370 coats, 443 sleeping bags/blankets, 362 pairs of gloves, 220 hats, and 1,553 pairs of socks.  H.O.P.E. moved 16 people off the street into transitional and permanent housing during the winter season and has moved 52 people off the street since its inception.  H.O.P.E. also held memorial services for four friends living on the streets who passed away. To date there is no shelter in Longmont. Needed donation items are listed on their website.

Villlage Makeover

Griffin Matthew, a Stanford University student is working with Village Makeover and traveled to Rwanda this summer.  She has developed  a Community Health Radio Program to bring awareness about critical child health issues.  Carol Canale, president and founder, explains to host Nikki Kayser how their self-reliance model works to promote lasting community development.
