Director of Field Operations, Gwen Vogel describes the importance of mental health expertise aid such as SalusWorld provides in South Africa, Thailand and Burma. They build the capacity of local organizations on the ground already doing work in their home countries by training and dispatching degreed mental health professionals to train local, onsite individuals and teams in establishing and managing sustainable psychosocial programs. They recognize that many want to serve but few have the time, so they place people onsite for eight week periods and follow-up with remote communication.
