The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art offers educational opportunities for art lovers of all ages. From Young Artists at Work to Art Stop to monthly digital arts salons and artist lectures, the museum strives to make art education fun and available to everyone. Teens drop in on Friday night to learn about contemporary art and express themselves. Host Nikki Kayser spoke with Ashley Mask Harris, Director of Education.

Friday, January 4th, 2008Chapunga Sculpture is from Zimbabwe. Many of the artists are from the Shona Tribe. Zimbabwe stone sculpture made it’s first appearance around 1956. The sculpture art is the artists personnel interaction with the life around them. Most viewers find the art very expressive and emotional. Zimbabwe has the nick name “The House of Stone”. In Zimbabwe that life is a transition through national independence, severe economic changes and hardships along with severe political upheavals. Marcey Mushore, ex-patriot living in the U.S. imports sculptures to support the culture back home. She describes the current conditions in Zimbabwe to host Nikki Kayser.
