KGNU IS SEEKING A MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

KGNU, an award winning community radio station serving Boulder and Denver CO, seeks an energetic, committed, personable Membership Director. The Membership Director serves under the general supervision of the Station Manager, works with a paid staff of eight and more than 200 volunteers, and is responsible for implementing and overseeing the activities of the Membership Department, which provides 60-70 percent of the station's operating income.

The Membership Director maintains the membership database (Memsys), tracking 5000-plus members and producing reports. The Director is responsible for data entry, maintaining the integrity and security of the database, sending invoices, renewal notices and thank you letters, providing mailing lists, organizing mass mailings, and any other duties as assigned by the station manager.

The Membership Director is also responsible for tracking all monies that come into the station, marking account numbers, preparing deposits and maintaining records.

The Membership Director sets up systems, provides forms, and trains and organizes volunteers to take membership information during membership drives.

The Membership Director is responsible for pledge fulfillment and the disbursement of premiums, including identifying and tracking premiums, mailing and scheduling special premium parties and events.

The Membership Director serves on committees as recommended by the Station Manager, and in conjunction with other staff makes decisions regarding membership goals and strategies.

The Membership Director coordinates volunteer front desk receptionists and assists visitors to the station.

Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated skills in database management, preferably in a membership setting;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and enthusiastically in collaboration with a wide variety of people, both in groups and one-to-one;
  • Demonstrated commitment to independent media;
  • Proven ability to carry out multiple activities and responsibilities in one job;
  • Demonstrated experience working with and coordinating volunteers.
  • Strong customer service skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bilingual Spanish and English;
  • Fundraising and accounting background.
Salary: KGNU staff salary of $40,500 (non-negotiable) plus excellent medical benefits and flexible, generous vacation policy.

This is a full-time position based at KGNU's Boulder studios.
