Lecture with Dr Vandana Shiva

Vandana Shiva is an internationally renowned voice for sustainable development and social justice. A physicist, scholar, political activist and feminist, she is Director of the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Natural Resource Policy in New Delhi. She's the recipient of the Right Livelihood Award, the alternative Nobel Prize. Author of many books, her latest are Earth Democracy and Soil Not Oil.

She is a dynamic and charismatic speaker who is supporting grassroots movements in India and around the world. She was a major of voice at the WTO protest in Seattle in 1999. Dr. Shiva has done much to highlight the plight of Indian farmers who have been hit particularly hard by World Bank/IMF globalization schemes. In recent years, more than 200,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide because of crushing debt burdens.

This event will be a fundraiser for KGNU Community Radio. A $10-20 donation is suggested. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door starting at 6:30 p.m.
