March with KGNU in the MLK Day Marade or Boulder March

Come out and show your support for independent community radio and help us pass out pocket guides to the crowds that will cheer us on! We invite you to be a part of our show of support for peace and the continuing struggle for the protection and promotion of civil rights.

The Marade starts at 10:30am on January 21st in Denver's City Park. It leaves from the "I Have a Dream Memorial" near East High School and follows Colfax Avenue for a 5K walk down to Civic Center Park. The Marade draws a VERY large crowd, so we will plan for our group to meet at 10:00 at the large sculptural park entrance on 17th Avenue between Detroit and Fillmore Streets. The entrance is located at approximately 2856 E. 17th Avenue and is essentially a tall, reddish stone structure with a couple of benches that sits on the south side of the park, just south of Fermil Lake. There should be ample street parking in the neighborhood to the south of the park that should be easy to access east of where they will close Colfax for the Marade. This meeting location will give us an identifiable landmark to gather around that will be far enough from the chaos of the masses but close to the crowd assembling near the MLK monument and able to hear the program that begins at 10. Our group will hang out at the sculpture on 17th and get organized from 10:00-10:30. We will move over to join the gathering Marade participants at 10:30 to be ready for the launch at 10:45.

Wear any KGNU gear you have as well as comfortable walking shoes. Dress for the weather and feel free to bring friends, and family -- the more the merrier!
