Radioland: KGNU's Art in Public Places project
|
In May of 2008 KGNU will celebrate 30 years of broadcasting. KGNU is a volunteer powered, listener supported, community radio station airing a diverse array of music and independently produced national and local news programming.
In celebration of this milestone anniversary KGNU will launch an Art in Public Places project titled Radioland.
The project begins with artists given a radio (or a radio of your choice can be used) that will be turned into a piece of art. The object is to deconstruct and reconstruct your radio into a relevant, provocative, gorgeous piece of ART! You are invited to participate in this premier event.
All finished pieces will be displayed publicly in highly visible places through out Boulder/Denver and the Front Range. We are asking that you participate in the project by using your most creative ability to manufacture, rebuild, generate, fashion, cast, hammer out, fabricate, re-imagine, evolve the radio.
The event will culminate with an art auction to benefit KGNUs Operating Budget (75% of sales will benefit KGNU, 25% of sale will benefit each individual artist or may be donated back to KGNU).
We hope you will consider participating in this project. We look forward to working with you.
Timeline: Artist proposal deadline: EXTENDED to March 3rd 2008 Artist notification to participate: March 10th 2008 Artist time to work on piece: March through April 8th 2008 Finished pieces on Public Display: May 5th through July Art Auction: Mid/late August 2008
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the station.
